The Rule of Law
The stage is now set for the continuation of the sensational Hollywood styled, Nollywood thriller, tittled; "The Rule of Law" which featured Justice Adeneeyi Ademorlar and other accused judges, produced by EFCC Motion pictures, as written and directed by Hebrahim Mangue.
Due to the technical nature and theme of the film, a Proffessor of law also consulted in the production of the masterpiece.
With the budget of the film and the amount of hard currencies displayed and mentioned in the film, you'll all agree with me that this judicial fiction, is another entirely superficial dimension in film making in Nigeria.
The multi billion dollar project is about a sitting civilian president who once came to power as the head of a military junta, by truncating the same democratic process which now brought him to power, over 3 decades ago. His journey to power as a civilian president was hunted by his past as a military dictator, his critics were hell bent on preventing his second coming, they sited many of his shortcomings during his reign of terror as a dictator, the entire media space was awashed with several muzzling decress he initiated and many of his other past issues such as the controversial fiftysomething suitcases load of cash allegedly brought into the country which passed through the airport unchecked. But despite all these brouhaha, the president stuck to his gun and continued fighting against all plots to prevent him from coming back to rule and promised to fight corruption to a stand still if given the second chance to rule again as a civilian president.
Many of his critics maintained that even if elected as a civilian president, he will never allow judicial process and ultimately will not respect the rule of law.
This creative work of fiction titled "The Rule of Law" is double edged. The season - I of the film was meant to further endear the president to his diminishing number of fans and also portray him as fulfilling his major electioneering campaign of fighting corruption to a standstill.
And that was exactly what was seen in the film, going by the series of commando styled day and night invasions of homes of judges and other labeled corrupt persons by security operatives, including the discovery of orphaned, parented and adopted humongous, eye- popping and jaw dropping monies in hard currencies in various unimaginable locations and spots, including airports, motor parks, night clubs, suya spots, pepper soup joints, eateries and other yet to be disclosed locations. Some monies in hard currencies were also dislodged from their highly placed surrogate mother, due to her questionable DNA link with the funds.
The captivating season-I of the film seemed to had achieved its intended purpose as we can see in the well scripted movie. The movie was able to convince a larger percentage of the fans of the president, as they were deeply convinced that his anti corruption war was real and total.
The second edge of the film is to again portray the president as a respecter of the "Rule of Law" in order to prove his critics wrong that he respects and allows the Rule of Law.
The preview of the Season-II is out already but no date has been fixed for the premiering of the much awaited thriller. We can see that all the alleged corrupt Judges who were harrassed, detained and shamed in the corruption fiasco as seen in the film including the lead actor, Justice Adayneeyi Ademorlar has been released and they are all on their way back to their respective court's to continue discharging their "God sent" duties.
In this new episode, We are likely to see the disgraced judges heading to courts to challenge their detention and suspension. There's a possibility of these judges been awarded monetary compensations by the court, which the govetnment will gladly pay, all these will be to change the perception of the presidents critics to someone who has great respect for democratic institutions and principles thereby paving ways for a second term.
Let us sit back to enjoy the much awaited season-II in 3D imaging technology.
Enjoy...
